Banner Art is proud to announce an atrium hanging mobile is under production for the Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) at our Studio. The completed fabric art mobile will hang in TGMC’s atrium area. The piece is made of translucent, fire retardant and ultra violet protected nylon banner fabric which is dirt and dust resistant. Banner Art Studio is working together with the art buyer at TGMC to design a piece of kinetic art that maintains continuity of the hospital’s brand, messaging and art motifs. The sewn-in surface design of leaves and butterflies sends a message to patients, guests and staff that this is a place of renewal, healing and regeneration. The tapestry of the mobile is attached to welded stainless steel armatures. The art work is lightweight, light translucent and has gentle, meditative movement that is therapeutic for TGMC patients. It balances to hang as a single mobile sculpture from one point in the ceiling, and its movement offers a continually changing perspective. The atrium hanging art piece, which is due to be installed this summer, is approximately 26′ high and 11′ wide. While of formidable size, the total weight of the piece is less than 200 lbs.
