One of Banner Art Studio’s currently ongoing projects is a collection of bright summer sunflowers for a street pole display commissioned by the City of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The hand-sewn applique banners will be 32 inches by 6 feet, and the City has asked for two banners per pole. The bright colors and large size of the banners will make quite a display!
Glenwood Springs is located 45 miles north of Aspen and 60 miles west of Vail, and probably most well-known for its bubbling hot springs. Health seekers have long sought it out as a world class resort, including President Teddy Roosevelt who famously spent an entire summer vacation living at the historic Hotel Colorado. Sunflowers will fit well with its adventurous, outdoorsy, healthful aesthetic for an unforgettable summer display.
Pictured here, Marie is hemming the edges of the Glenwood Springs summer sunflower applique banners. She is using one of our favorite machines, the walking foot machine, to double straight stitch the hem of a banner. This machine is very powerful, and a joy to work with!
